Otanbayeva on the occasion of March 8: Restrictions against women increase the risk of poverty and isolation in Afghanistan.

Roza Otenbayeva, the special representative of the United Nations Secretary General and the head of the deputy delegation of this organization in Afghanistan, says that the restrictions against women increase the risk of pushing Afghanistan towards poverty and further isolation.

The head of the deputy delegation of this organization in Afghanistan raised this issue on the occasion of March 8 International Women's Solidarity Day and asked the caretaker government of Afghanistan to end the restrictions against women and girls.

According to the UNAMA statement, Otanbaywa lamented that instead of investing in women, in Afghanistan, he sees "a catastrophic negative investment" that causes serious harm to women and girls and creates an obstacle to peace and prosperity.

In order to make a difference, Afghan women say they need global support for advocacy, ensuring women's active participation and representation in all discussions about Afghanistan's future, and maintaining international aid that directly supports women, the UNAMA statement said.
