A former government official was arrested on charges of sexual assault on a young woman in America

Harun Hakimi, the former deputy of Afghanistan's Ministry of Information and Culture, has been arrested in America on charges of raping a 27-year-old woman.

The Virginia State Police announced on Monday, 21 Hout, that this former Afghan official is now in custody and the investigation into the sexual assault charge is ongoing.

America's Fox 5 channel has reported that this woman was in a relationship with Mr. Hakimi before alleging sexual assault.

According to American law, a woman can object to her sexual partner and report it as sexual assault, even within a cohabiting relationship.

Mohammad Harun Hakimi worked as Deputy Minister of Information and Culture in the previous government and went to America after the fall of the regime.
