The Norwegian ambassador emphasized the reopening of girls' schools in Afghanistan

The Norwegian ambassador living in Kabul says that in a meeting with a number of caretaker government officials and the head of UNAMA, he emphasized the reopening of girls' schools in the new academic year.

On Thursday, Paul Kloman Bacon, Chargé d'Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy in Afghanistan, announced on his Twitter "X" page about the meeting with Molavi Kabir, the Political Deputy of the Islamic Emirate, Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan, and Roza Atunbayeva, the head of UNAMA. that with the beginning of the new year, girls should return to school and universities.

Meanwhile, Karen Dicker, Chargé d'Afghanistan of the US Embassy in Doha, said that another Nowruz has passed in Afghanistan, but so far there is no sign of the reopening of girls' schools in Afghanistan.

He said these words in a meeting on Wednesday, March 27 and added: "Afghanistan is experiencing its third year under the rule of the caretaker government, but schools are still closed to girls above the sixth grade."

The Chargé d'Affaires of the American Embassy in Afghanistan also emphasized that "Afghanistan is the only country in the world for the third year in a row where girls above the sixth grade cannot pursue modern education."

The academic year of 1403 started about 9 days ago in Afghanistan under the rule of the Islamic Emirate, but this year, like the previous two years, only boys were allowed to participate in classrooms, and girls are still waiting for the reopening of schools above the sixth grade.

Mahdia, one of the girls who completed the sixth grade last year and is now unable to go to her classroom, asked the Islamic Emirate to allow the girls to return to their classrooms at the beginning of this academic year.

Speaking to Khamepress, he said: "I finished the sixth grade last year, but I have also prepared for the new year. I hope I can return to my class."

At the beginning of the new academic year, the Ministry of Education once again emphasized the observance of the hijab by school girls, but did not make any reference to reopening the school gates for middle and high school girls.
