American Commission on Religious Freedom: Afghanistan's religious minorities are persecuted by the Taliban

According to the United States Commission on Religious Freedom, religious minorities in Afghanistan, including Shiites, Hindus, Sikhs, and Christians, face severe restrictions and persecution by the Taliban.

This commission has announced that religious freedom in Afghanistan has severely deteriorated under the rule of the Taliban. The Taliban continue to implement their strict interpretation of Sharia law and do not respect freedom of religion and belief.

According to this report, the Taliban have imposed severe restrictions on the coverage, employment and education of Afghans. They have also banned public religious ceremonies for religious minorities.

Shiites are still facing harassment, violence and interference in their right to worship. The Taliban have banned Shia-Sunni marriages and have banned the teaching of Jafari's jurisprudence books.

The American Religious Freedom Commission asked the government of this country to introduce Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban as a "country of special concern" and to raise religious freedom in talks with the Taliban and condemn their crimes.

Also, this commission has demanded to sanction Taliban officials involved in violating religious freedoms.
