Pakistan and Iran agreed to establish a regional contact group for Afghanistan

Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iran's ambassador and special representative for Afghanistan affairs, says that during his visit to Islamabad, they agreed with their Pakistani counterparts that Afghanistan's neighboring countries form the core of the regional contact group for Afghanistan.
Iran's special representative for Afghanistan affairs wrote in a post on X channel on Monday night, 25th of Jadi, that his trip to Islamabad was a continuation of Iran's efforts in the region to help the people of Afghanistan.
Kazemi Qomi also said that Pakistan has agreed that the regional contact group for Afghanistan, after its establishment, will present a package of constructive proposals to the caretaker government of Afghanistan.

"In this framework, we agreed with our Pakistani counterparts that Afghanistan's neighboring countries form the core of the regional contact group for Afghanistan and present a package of constructive proposals to the caretaker government of Afghanistan."
During his trip to Islamabad, this Iranian diplomat met Jalil Abbas Jilani, interim foreign minister, Asif Durrani, Pakistan's special representative for Afghanistan affairs, and other officials of that country.
Iran's special representative for Afghanistan added that he emphasized in the meeting with Pakistani officials that the peace and stability of the region is dependent on the peace and stability in Afghanistan and regional initiatives centered on Afghanistan's neighboring countries can help to establish this peace.

"The contact group and its agenda can be expanded and can address the concerns of Afghanistan's neighbors, regional countries and the international community about Afghanistan in the form of a specific agenda with a logical timetable, step by step."
The foreign minister of Pakistan also emphasized the vital role of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in achieving the vision of a peaceful and stable region by publishing a newsletter about the meeting between Jilani and Qomi in Islamabad.
Iran has recently started efforts to establish a contact group in Afghanistan, and the diplomats of this country have met with the officials of the Islamic Emirate as part of these efforts.
