Ethnic and religious minorities suffer from the detention of women under the Taliban regime

Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman of the United Nations Secretary General, stated in a press conference that ethnic and religious minorities in Afghanistan have suffered more than any other group from arbitrary arrests of women by the Taliban.

He added that UNAMA is investigating allegations of illegal detention of women and girls.

Referring to the UNAMA report, Dujarric said that the Taliban have arrested women mainly from the Hazara areas and the Khairkhane area of Kabul, where most of the people are Tajiks.

He emphasized that arbitrary arrests send women into further isolation and provide a favorable environment for family violence.

Following these statements, human rights organizations are trying to condemn the violation of women's rights in Afghanistan by investigating the reasons and methods of arresting girls by the Taliban.

Meanwhile, the Taliban have denied any arbitrary arrest of women and emphasized that these women were arrested for promoting non-hijab.
