In 2023, 560 people were killed and injured due to the explosion of mines in the country

 

The Islamic Emirate says that in 2023, 560 people died or were injured in landmine explosions across the country.

Nuruddin Rostam Khel, Head of Mine Clearance, Ministry of Disaster Management, during the celebration ceremony of the International Mine Awareness Day and Deputy Minister of Mine Clearance in Kabul, said that during 2023, 174 people, including women and children, will die due to mine explosion and Unexploited materials died in the country.

According to him, during the last year, 90 square kilometers of land in 119 districts of the country have been cleared from the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance.

Meanwhile, the political deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that the presence of landmines in Afghanistan has not been zero.
Maulvi Abdul Kabir, political deputy of the Prime Minister, said in a meeting on the occasion of World Mine Awareness Day, that despite the fact that most areas of Afghanistan have been cleared of landmines, it has not reached zero and people are still being victimized.

The political deputy of the prime minister asked the international community to fulfill its responsibility in the field of mine clearance in Afghanistan. In this meeting, he assured that the Islamic Emirate supports the demining program and stressed that this program should be implemented in all parts of the country.
Maulvi Abdul Kabir also expressed his hope that Afghanistan will be mine-free in a few years.
