The Taliban has banned the operation of private televisions under the pretext of conflicting with national interests

The Taliban have announced that the broadcasting of the programs of two private televisions "Noor and Beria" has been temporarily stopped. This decision was taken based on the claim of non-observance of "national and Islamic principles and values" by these two media.

Hafizullah Barakzai, a member of the Taliban Media Violation Commission, said that the group had repeatedly warned these two media outlets for not respecting "national interests".

He added that the activities of these two televisions will be stopped until the verdict is issued by the Taliban court.

Habib Ghafran, the spokesman of the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Taliban claimed that this ministry is trying to support the media and wants them to adhere to Islamic values, national interests and media principles.

He threatened that other media may also face the same fate as these two televisions.

"Noor" TV channel is owned by Salahuddin Rabbani, the leader of the Jamiat Party, and "Beria" TV is affiliated with the Islamic Party, led by Golbedin Hekmatyar.
