Around the year 2021, the number of people suffering from nervous or mental problems has increased

Report: Flirty Cocker

The statistics of the Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban show that in the year 2021, 2 million 223 thousand and 931 people have received health services in Afghanistan.

Also, the officials of the Department of Psychiatry of the Ministry of Public Health say that the number of mental patients has increased compared to previous years. One out of every two people in the country suffers from mental problems.

This list also includes those Afghan women who immigrated to Pakistan and some other countries after the Taliban came to power again and are dealing with many psychological problems in these countries.

Ms. Hajra Murad, who has worked in various fields of media in Afghanistan for over a decade.

With the re-establishment of the Taliban, the issue of immigration has changed

Mrs. Murad, who currently resides in Pakistan, says:

"I have been living in Pakistan for almost 3 years. In these three years, I faced a lot of mental problems, which I am still undergoing treatment. Before immigration, I did not have any kind of illness, especially nervous or mental problems. .

Economic problems, the long-term process of cases, and especially the forced deportation of Afghan refugees by the Pakistani government, are what made me sick.

Mrs. Murad also claims that refugees are treated differently in Pakistan's government hospitals, although the said hospital is a government hospital, but medicine is given only to those who have an ID card.

He adds: "I visited the government hospital because of my economic problems; After the diagnosis, he told me that he had a neurological disease and gave him a prescription. The medicine was available at the hospital, but I still had to buy it from a private pharmacy.

“For a long time now, I have been under treatment. I take sedatives and sometimes I have a brain attack. I am in a very difficult situation. ; My worries have increased.

“Mrs. Murad, who has had notable achievements in media production, presentation and reporting since a year, considers going back to Afghanistan because of these activities to be a big threat to herself and her family.

” In the previous regime in Afghanistan, where we live, we had freedom to do our activities, although there were security problems, but despite that, we were happy; Because we had a job, we lived in our house, we had peace and we didn't have such problems that we have in immigration, because now we can't even go back to Afghanistan and we are not safe here, these thoughts are the cause of the problems. I have a mental problem ”

Another woman named Nadia Mustafa, who has been a refugee for several years and currently lives in Pakistan; Mrs. Mustafa cites unemployment and economic problems in the country as the reason for her immigration:

He says, "I decided to immigrate due to unemployment and economic problems. There are ten people in our family, and it was very difficult to earn a living for them; Because no matter how hard my husband tried, he couldn't find easy dry bread. My husband had a free job, but he would have many problems when he got a job. Due to severe sufferings, I also got cancer. Before immigrating to Pakistan, my life was good, my husband was a worker, life progressed well, he did not face many economic problems, but unfortunately, from 2022 until now. The pressure from the Pakistani government increased.

Before, the house rent was cheap, now the house is asking twice the rent and it is very difficult to find because our legal visa has expired and we are not able to renew it, we are being harassed by the government.”

Mrs. Nadia, who is currently undergoing treatment, says: "I cannot return to Afghanistan, because I have heart disease and cancer, and I am under observation here. The medicine is given to me by the doctors if I leave it or within the specified period. Not getting it might lead to my death; Because the doctor does not allow; But living here in such conditions has become difficult.

Like other refugees, Mrs. Nadia also claims that the government hospital does not give me medicine, and buying medicine abroad is also at a high price.

Mrs. Nadia says: "In these difficult situations, we request the international community to take care of the Afghan refugees living in Pakistan and make them a center of care."

Around the year 2022, several Afghan refugees have committed suicide in Pakistan due to mental problems and the unfortunate days of immigration.

After the fall of the republic, many Afghans who were under the threat of the Taliban immigrated to the third countries in order to be transferred from there to America or other countries. who committed suicide in Pakistan.

Maryam Sadat's family said in an interview with the BBC:” She committed suicide due to her poor living conditions, desperation and economic problems in immigration ” Maryam Sadat's relatives say that the long wait for economic problems in recent months has traumatized her mental condition.

Zakaria Baloch also committed suicide due to the long wait for the stories and being miserable. According to the spokesperson of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Pakistan, Mr. Qaiser Afridi ”

Seeking safety in Pakistan More than 700,000 Afghans have come to Pakistan since 2021, of which 100,000 are estimated to have gone to third countries.

And since 2021, about 45 thousand Afghans have contacted UNHCR. They include women, children, members of minorities, media professionals and artists”

Shoghli Afridi says that we have many concerns of Afghan refugees (UNHCR) Pakistan has always requested the government to refrain from forcibly evicting Afghans. ” As Afghanistan faces human rights challenges, especially for women and women, who will face serious risks upon return, we must always prioritize Afghans facing threats. We have refused to delay ”

Mr. Afridi did not comment on the refugees who committed suicide in Pakistan. On the other hand, some neurologists believe that the excessive use of drugs for neurological diseases leads to the emergence of other dangerous diseases; It's insane

Dr. Barat Amiri from Afghanistan, a professor at the University of Medicine and a specialist in mental-neurological diseases, says: "During the night and day, there is a chemical substance in our human brains called (Serotonin). It comes from singles

The emergence of this material protects the patients from sadness, liver problems and brings happiness. Changes in environmental factors, biological, spiritual, psychosocial changes interfere with the production of these substances, resulting in sadness and depression. causes

Dr. Amiri adds: "During depression, there are some medicines that help to eliminate or reduce depression. But these drugs also have side effects such as digestive, sexual and other similar problems.

Therefore, it should be avoided from using it too much, also we should pay more attention to use it on the advice of the doctor and leave it on the advice of the doctor.

Such as sleeping pills, which not only have side effects, but also cause addiction, and if used too much, it can lead to depression and eventually death.

Many psychologists say that the re-establishment of the Taliban and the Dadi regime in Afghanistan has caused mental illness more than any other event.

In addition to this, Dr. Mohammad Safa Farazi, a psychologist in Afghanistan, says: "Any negative effects in society can have an ongoing effect on individuals, and in recent years, the number of mental illnesses has increased more than before. There are tough conditions”

Dr. Farazi says that in 2021, about 164,000 patients visited doctors, and this number reached 178,000 in 2022, and this number increased even more in 2023.

Dr. Frazee says that the more economic problems are, the more unemployment there is, the more psychological problems arise. And besides, another big challenge is the unknown future.

The doctor also points out that one of the main reasons for the depression of immigrants is the environmental impact and the unknown fate.

Dr. Afghanistan, a mental health consultant with UNISEAR in Holtnet Institute, says that most of the young people suffer from deep depression or mental illness. It has various causes such as immigration, sexual assault, loss of family members, security problems, educational problems, These reasons cause deep sadness

” Most of our patients are young people, very few children and people over 55 years of age are not included in this list ”

Mr. Rahimi says about how deep sadness arises ” First, their sadness is from three weeks to six months, if it lasts more than six months, we call it deep sadness. They do too much, they don't hang out with friends, they can't trust anyone, they want to be alone in a dark room all the time.”

Mr. Rahimi also describes the solution to deep sadness in several parts ” First of all, when a patient comes to us, we recommend that they stay with their friends who study exercise, and then we also introduce anti-depressant drugs to them. They help a lot in curing disease”

People suffering from deep depression have irregular sleep. They usually do not sleep at night. The place of sleep should be regular and their heart should be equal. Exercise can help regulate their sleep.

On this basis, the number of women suffering from mental illnesses in immigration is more than the number of women in Afghanistan

Mrs. Murad once again calls on the international and especially on the institutions with which their case files are registered, she hopes that they will pay attention to it; Because Pakistan is not a safe country to live in

Mrs Murad says ” I hope the world will listen to our voice, free us from the disaster that is happening to the refugees in Pakistan, put pressure on the government of Pakistan, on the one hand, there are economic problems, mental illness, on the other hand, the worst thing is the excessive force of the government of Pakistan. We want the international community not to leave us alone “
