Guterres wanted to protect the earth against climate change

On the occasion of "Earth Day", Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, has called for the protection of the earth against climate change and the events resulting from it.

On Monday, April 22, by publishing a message on X page, he said that climate change, air pollution and biodiversity threaten the earth.

He emphasized that "on Earth Day, we must support our planet".

On the other hand, the Environmental Protection Department of the caretaker government in Afghanistan also published a statement on the occasion of "Earth Day" and called on the people to fulfill their religious and national responsibility in the field of protecting the land and environment.

World Earth Day was organized for the first time by Gaylord Nelson, an American senator and environmental activist, and Dennis Hayes, a graduate of Harvard University, in order to protect the environment.

This is despite the fact that every year millions of people gather around the world and celebrate Earth Day with the aim of remembering the importance of protecting the environment.

It should be mentioned that water, air and soil pollution, continuous drought, increase of greenhouse gases, deforestation and other problems of environmental protection are challenges that have caused severe damage to the earth.

According to reports, Afghanistan is among the 10 countries most vulnerable to climate change and natural disasters, and United Nations agencies have always warned of the adverse effects of climate change on the lives of Afghan people.
