The mayor of Türkiye warned: Afghan refugees face deportation due to minor violations

Özkan Yılmaz, the mayor of Osak, Turkey, has warned that Afghan and Syrian refugees will be deported if they make the smallest mistake in this city.

This member of Erdoğan's opposition party also announced that he will not give business and work permits to these immigrants.

On Thursday, April 13, Turkish media reflected the new statements of the mayor of Osak.

Mr. Yilmaz is a member of the Republican People's Party of Turkey, a party that has recently won significant victories in local elections in Turkey's major cities, raising the hopes of its supporters for success in the presidential and parliamentary elections.

Yilmaz emphasized that he does not want any more Afghan and Syrian refugees in Osak and will not allow those who live there to do business and work.

He said in a condescending tone that if these asylum seekers make the slightest mistake, I will throw them out without hesitation.

In recent months, Türkiye has intensified the detention of mostly Afghan refugees. The Minister of Interior of Turkey announced the increase of checkpoints and inspection patrols in different cities of Turkey to identify and detain "illegal" asylum seekers.
